I’m sure you’ve heard, but the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) sent an orbiter to Mars for less money than Facebook spends on employee lunches per month.

Well, images from this mission began to pour in this week. And boy was it money well spent. What you’re looking at in these images are not processed photos or computer-generated renderings of our neighboring planet — they are actual photos taken just hours after arriving in orbit around Mars from approximately 45,000 miles up. Talk about a close-up.

Think about this. If India can do it for $74,000,000 surely someone can do it for 50, then 35, then 10, then — well, who knows.
